Ebbsfleet Garden City is a new town being built in North Kent. Around 15000 new homes, alongside the existing communities will form this new place which is rapidly emerging. Currently there are around 450 homes built and occupied and we are working alongside others to make sure that Christians are helping to shape the new communities and that churches and missional communities are established.
The garden city has been designated a ‘Healthy New Town’ and we (supported by the South Eastern Baptist Association) are working on an initiative called Sunday Active which addresses the need to make new friends, develop a healthier lifestyle, and consider aspects of spiritual health from a Christian perspective.
We meet weekly on a Sunday morning at 9am. The morning kicks off with the option to join in one of several activities – a led walk, a running group, HiiT, or simply a chance to stay for coffee and chat.
Everyone gathers back at the centre just before 10am for a light breakfast, followed by a short, interactive presentation on an aspect of spiritual health.
In addition to Sunday Active, we run a weekly coffee morning (which is where most friendships are beginning and growing), and a homegroup / church night where we are developing our worship, prayer and teaching as a new church.
