We act as a Network of Networks

Fresh Expressions connects people and networks across the wider movement, creating space to share learning, build relationships and explore what is emerging in mission.

We draw people together for Brave Space conversations that help develop missional practice and thinking. These gatherings connect people around shared contexts and areas of interest, such as our Sport & Movement Brave Space Gathering, with further conversations developing around areas including outdoors, forest and pilgrimage.

We also champion and connect those already running support networks. Rather than duplicating what already exists, we want to strengthen relationships, encourage partnership and help networks learn from one another. Our Rural Network of Networks is one example of this approach.

We facilitate local & themed hubs

We facilitate local & themed hubs

Alongside connecting wider networks, we facilitate hubs that bring people together around a shared place or context.

Our geographical hubs, often run in partnership with others, connect people involved in Fresh Expressions and new Christian communities locally. We support existing relationships and help develop new hubs where there are gaps and a clear need.

Our themed hubs bring together pioneers working in similar settings or facing similar opportunities and challenges. These create space for connection, shared learning and mutual support around particular contexts, such as new housing.

Rural Mission Hubs
Where do you meet: 
Axminster, Wantage, Launde Abbey, Clare Priory, Holy Island, Scargill
 
How often do you meet timings?
3-4 times a year, 10-4pm, sometimes with one over-night a year. In Person
 
What is the focus of your group?
Rural Mission Hubs aim to support and encourage pioneers, practitioners, and permission givers, as well as those looking to explore pioneering rural ministry and mission. They are an opportunity to share stories and encouragements, pray together, explore ideas, and listen to God together. It is a gathering of like-minded explorers with an open door to anyone seeking a safe place to be, and as such, invites you to join us on the journey. We are ecumenical.
 
Is the group or network specifically rural?
Yes
 
Is there a cost?
It depends on region, but about £10 and a little more for any overnight stay

Missional Listening Hub
Where do you meet:
Online
 
How often do you meet ? 
3-4 times a year in the evening for an hour and a half
 
What is the focus of your group?
To journey together as we seek to discern the work if the Holy Spirit in our rural context, in order to join in with God’s mission. The group is for any Christian who is seeking to missional listen in their rural community.

FX Brave Spaces Regional Hubs
Where do you meet:
  • Sheffield and surrounding area
  • Eastbourne and surrounding area
  • East Midlands and Surrounding area
  • North West (Liverpool/Manchester) 
  • London
How often do you meet ? 
All meetings in person in various locations usually half a day and which day varies according to the local group. Meetings are usually 3 times a year. 
 
What is the focus of your group?
We meet to support pioneering people who are interested in brave conversations about what it means to be community and church in a fresh way. We draw together like minded individuals for support, conversation, prayer and encouragement in various regions from a range of contexts. Ecumenical
 
Is the group or network specifically rural?
Some local groups are more rural in make up than others but not exclusively rural. 
 
Is there a cost?

Usually no but in some cases there are contributions to food etc

Where do you meet:
Lilleshal The UK National Sports Centre near Telford
 
How often do you meet? 
Once a year for 2 day residential (next one in May 2027) with possible online follow up discussions
 
What is the focus of your group or network and who is it for?
This a national network run by FX Brave Spaces and Sportily and is for leaders of Sports Ministries, locally and Nationally. We dream big, discuss bravely and play creatively as we consider what it means to approach sport and physical activity as a radical place of encounter and worship?  Ecumenical
 
Is the group or network specifically rural?
The group is sports focussed but would welcome those engaging in Sports ministry in rural areas.
 
Is there a cost?
Yes £150pp for the residential.
