Overview:

In liminal spaces, we’re often looking for certainty and clear direction. The psalmist tells us that our ‘holy book’ is “a lamp for my feet, a light on my path” (Psalm 119:105). This gathering will be a safe space to explore how the Bible helps us to navigate through the sea of questions and doubts we might have, and to discover how Scripture might reveal wayfinders for the journey.

We’ll be joined by John Drane and Olive Fleming Drane who, with a mix of captivating stories, cutting-edge academic research, and their own personal wisdom, will take us on a deep dive into the origins of the Bible. Together we’ll unpack how this ancient text carries increased relevance in modern times and discover fresh perspectives on how we can creatively apply it to our own missional contexts.

Speakers:

John Drane and Olive Fleming Drane

John & Olive have shared a passion for each other and for a radical approach to Christian discipleship ever since they became an item as teenagers. Their ministry has taken them all over the world and they have been warmly embraced by Christians of many different traditions. They have been involved in Fresh Expressions from its inception and were instrumental in the development of the mission-shaped ministry course. They both currently teach in the professional doctorate program of Fuller Seminary, California, as well as in various CMS pioneering initiatives. Olive has also worked in university chaplaincy and John is currently co-chair of the Mission Theology Apologetics Group (a partnership between the Church of England and Churches Together in Britain & Ireland).
