Fresh Expressions and the Resurrection

“For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.” 1 Cor 15:22

As we approach Easter and the Global Church gets ready to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus, we wanted to send Easter greetings from Fresh Expressions and our encouragements for all you’re doing.

One the unique and amazing dynamics of the Christian faith is that we are a people of resurrection.  We celebrate our King who met Mary on that first Easter morning and who defeated death.  We share our faith as people who join in this resurrection and joyfully live as “ministers of reconciliation” (2 Cor 6.)

But one of the incredible dynamics of this resurrection is that it is preceded by death.  Its only in brokenness that we receive healing.  We literally need to journey through the agony of Good Friday and the emptiness of Easter Saturday before we experience the hope and joy of Easter Sunday.

So it shouldn’t surprise us that in our ministry, we experience the challenges of changing culture and the agony of loss before we see the light of hope. Up and down the country we meet Pioneers who are experiencing hardship as they develop new and imaginative forms of mission.  Sometimes we are misunderstood.  Sometimes we are disappointed by a lack of resources.  Sometimes we experience the agony of failure.

But hope is coming…

Be encouraged and encourage each other this weekend.  Although Europe’s view of faith has changed immeasurably over little more than a generation, Fresh Expressions and other missions movements give us hope that new life and new hope are coming.

Happy Easter to all of you.
